Lynx fall to Toledo despite late rally

The Ottawa Lynx put together a dramatic rally to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th inning, but could not push home the winning run and lost 6-5 to the Toledo Mud Hens in 11 innings. The Lynx are swept in their four game series with Toledo and see their record fall to 36-36.

Player of the Game: In a game filled with many ups and downs, both teams take home today's accolades.

Key Plays: Ryan Raburn drew a two-out bases-loaded walk in the top of 11th, pushing across the deciding run in a 6-5 Lynx loss.

Recap: In the wrap of the four game series, Toledo jumped out to an early lead on a Curtis Granderson solo homer in the top of the first inning. Ottawa replied in the second inning. Alejandro Freire doubled to lead off, and two outs later he came into score when Toledo starter Kenny Baugh threw high to first on Eli Whiteside's comebacker. Toledo scored one in the fourth to pull ahead and increased their lead to 4-1 on a Marcus Thames two-run homer in the 5th off of starter Dave Borkowski. Ottawa got one back in the fifth, when back to back hits by Eli Whiteside and Kris Wilken were followed by a walk to Mike Moriarty to load the bases. Bernie Castro then grounded out to score Whiteside and narrow the margin to 4-2. The teams traded runs in the 7th, with Ottawa's run coming when Bobby Darula scored on a Alejandro Freire RBI single to leave the score at 5-3. The Lynx came into the bottom of the 9th down two runs, but Ottawa would stage a dramatic rally. Napoleon Calzado started the rally with a one out single to right. One out later, Tim Raines Jr. gave the fans some hope by driving a double to left to score Calzado to pull the Lynx to within one. After an intentional walk to Bobby Darula, Ed Rogers lined a single to right, scoring Raines Jr. to even the score at five and send it to extra innings. Ottawa had a chance to score in the 10th getting a runner to third base with one out, but they were unable to push the run across. In the top of the 11th Toledo loaded the bases with two out, and reliever Aaron Rakers issued a 3-2 walk to Ryan Raburn to score a run and give Toledo the lead. Ottawa got a two-out runner on base in the bottom half, but were unable to score and fell 6-5.

Next Game: The Lynx hit the road for a four game series in Syracuse, with game one set for tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
