YESTERDAY'S GAME

Minnesota 90, Chicago 82

The Chicago Sky never gave the Lynx a chance to breathe easy in the teams' first ever meeting. The Lynx led by as many as 15 late in the third quarter and it looked like they might cruise to victory, but the Sky kept the pressure on with several fourth quarter steals that led to easy transition buckets. In the end, it was Amber Jacobs who helped cement the win for the Lynx with a steal and lay-up in the final minutes. Jacobs scored a career-high 24 points on perfect shooting from the field (7-7 FG, 3-3 3P) and the free throw line (7-7). On top of that, Svetlana Abrosimova had one of her best games of the year as she scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds, and handed out five assists. Seimone Augustus also chipped in 18 points. Candice Dupree had 14 points and 5 assists for the Sky. Bernadette Ngoysia also put up solid numbers with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

TONIGHT'S GAME

Minnesota at Houston - Thursday, July 20, at Toyota Center (7:30 p.m.)

Two very different stories have unfolded in this season' first two match-ups between these two teams. On June 4 at Houston, Michelle Snow scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Comets to a 23-point victory. A week later, the Lynx controlled the Comets in the second half and, paced by Seimone Augustus' 19, won the game 75-62. On Thursday, they will return to Houston where they are 2-12 all time and face a Comets team struggling after losing Tina Thompson, their leading scorer, to injury. Houston has lost five of its last six games. Sheryl Swoopes has picked up some of the scoring slack in Thompson's absence. For the season, she is averaging 14.1 ppg.

THE RACE TO A MILLION

Wednesday's attendance of 14,793 is the second-largest announced Target Center crowd in franchise history (16,227 vs. Connecticut, July 14, 2004) and boosts the Lynx' season average to 6,780 per game. It's the fifth straight year that Minnesota has hosted a weekday afternoon contest. They're drawing an average of 13,442 in those contests (topping 11,000 in all five) and have won the past four, including last year's 71-61 victory over Detroit (July 13, 2005). The Lynx' all-time home attendance now stands at 971,422; they need to average 5,716 over their remaining five home dates to reach the one-million mark.

LYNX WATCH PARTIES

Now Lynx fans won't have to miss Lynx games, even when they are on the road. On four dates this season the Lynx will hold Watch Parties at the Naismith Lounge in Target Center's NBA City Restaurant so fans can watch the Lynx play their away games. Festivities include the Lynx game on 35 TV's, 2 for 1 on all drinks and half priced appetizers throughout the game. Also, fans will get the chance to win Lynx merchandise, courtside Lynx tickets and NBA City gift certificates. The next Watch Party is July 28 when the Lynx play at Chicago. Watch Parties will also be held on July 30, August 8, and August 13.
