LAST TIME OUT: The Hillcats lost to the Winston-Salem Dash 5-4 last night...The Hillcats took the lead initially with two runs in the top of the third...1B Levi Hyams and RF Blake Brown singled to start the frame...Then C Joe Odom hit a double off the center field wall to drive in both runners...The Dash came back in the bottom of the inning...3B Justin Jirschele and CF Keenyn Walker hit back-to-back doubles to put the Dash on the board...RF Jason Coats tied the score with a bases loaded sac fly to tie it...With two outs, 2B Joey DeMichele drove in two with a double, and DH Omar Narvaez drove in DeMichele with another two-bagger to make it 5-2 Dash...RHP Cody Scarpetta left the game after the Narvaez double...LHP Brady Feigl entered and induced a fly out to right field to end the inning...Feigl pitched 2.1 innings scoreless...RHP Mauricio Cabrera took over in the sixth and tossed a pair of blank frames...The Hillcats got a run back in the seventh on a bases loaded balk and pulled within one in the eighth as 2B David Nick hit an RBI single...RHP Cody Fassold continued the scoreless relief for the 'Cats stranding a one-out double in the eighth...RHP Brandon Brennan (1-0) gave up up two runs over five innings for the Dash on six hits and three walks while striking out three and earned the win...Scarpetta (2-5) suffered the loss allowing five runs on six hits in just 2.2 innings...RHP Brandon Hardin earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning, his fifth of the year...The Hillcats are now 21-21 in the second half, tied for second place in the Northern Division the Wilmington Blue Rocks (20-20)...Both teams site 1.5 games behind the Potomac Nationals...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats are 7-6 against the Dash this season...They have won both home series against the Dash (2-1, 3-1) and split a four -game set at BB&T Ballpark 2-2...After losing the last two nights, they will lose their first series to the Dash this weekend...The 'Cats are batting .278 with a .3.34 ERA versus the Dash...OF Will Skinner has eight RBIs in 12 games and OF David Nick is 10-for-24 with three RBIs...For the Dash, OF Jason Coats is batting just .240 against Hillcats pitching, but he has four home runs and 13 RBIs in 13 games, including Friday night's game-winner, and a sac fly last night...

FENDING OFF THE SWEEP: Lynchburg has been swept five times this season...A loss today would make it six...Each of the previous five sweeps have been in three-game series...All but one of the sweeps have been at the hands of a Southern Division team...Only the Potomac Nationals in the North swept the Hillcats in a rain-shortened three-game series April 26 -28...The Dash are the only Southern Division team that hasn't swept the Hillcats this season, with Carolina sweeping Lynchburg twice (home and road)...The Hillcats are 23-36 against the Southern Division this season and 21 of their last 28 games are against the South...

NO BIG HITS: The Hillcats out-hit the Dash for a second straight night and lost for a second straight night...The 'Cats had 11 knocks to Winston-Salem's eight, but lost 5-4...Lynchburg also went 4-for-14 with runners in scoring position...They have eight hits with runners in scoring position in this series but four of those hits haven't produced runs...They out-hit the Dash 12-7 on Friday night giving the Hillcats 23 hits in this series, and two have gone for extra bases...RF Blake Brown doubled Friday and C Joe Odom doubled last night...The 'Cats are now to 39-12 when out-hitting their opponent, and 29-15 when recording 10 or more hits...

NICK KNOCKS: OF David Nick went 3-for-4 last night with an RBI single...He is now 6-for-9 to begin August...He also batted a team-best .325 (25-for-77) in 22 July games...Had four home runs, 12 RBIs, six doubles, a triple, 12 runs scored, and two stolen bases...Was batting .272 overall entering July, and is now hitting .303, which is the highest his average has been since he held a .310 clip after a 1-for-4 effort on June 9 ...Nick has now become the primary leadoff option...He's batting a team-best .351 when leading off innings with another team-best four home runs...

ODE TO THE DASH: C Joe Odom went 1-for-2 last night with a double, two RBIs, a run scored, and two walks...He is 8-for-21 (.381) against the Dash this season with three home runs, two doubles, nine RBIs, and five runs scored...He's also drawn three walks giving him a .440 on-base percentage...He only have five hits in his last 11 games (.156), but three of his last four hits are doubles...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Tyler Danish was selected selected in the second round in 2013 by the Chicago White Sox out of Durant High School in Plant City, FL...Was named the 2013 Louisville Slugger National High School Player of the Year after going 15-1 with a 0.00 ERA (94IP, 156K, 17G, 15GS)...Made his professional debut with Rookie Bristol...Went 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in 13 appearances, one start...Struck out 22 and walked five in 26 innings...Promoted to Low-A Kannapolis toward the end of August where he allowed no runs in four innings over two relief outings...Baseball America has tabbed him the 10th-best prospect in the White Sox system this year...Mentioning him as one of two players "Closest to the Majors" out of his draft class, as well as having a top-three fastball, and the best secondary pitch for his slider...He throws a two-seam sinker in the low 90s with "plus-plus movement" and has an "emerging changeup that flashes plus"...At just 19 years old, Danish broke camp with Kannapolis this year but was promoted to Hi-A Winston-Salem on May 15 after going 3-0 with a 0.71 ERA in seven starts for the Intimidators...In 12 starts for the Dash he is 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA...Went 0-1 with a 9.26 ERA in three May start, 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA in three June starts, and 3-1 with a 1.10 ERA in six July starts...Against the Hillcats he is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts...Has allowed one or fewer earned runs in nine of 12 starts with the Dash...
