THE HILLCATS: Saturday, the 'Cats beat the Winston-Salem Dash 7-2...History was matched in the bottom of the first inning when Joey Terdoslavich hit his 51st double of the season tying the Carolina League single-season record...The double also tied the game 1-1 at that point...Terdoslavich homered his next at-bat to put Lynchburg up 2-1 in the fourth...It was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but the Hillcats scored five unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth frames, ultimately winning 7-2...RHP Gary Moran tossed six innings, allowing just two runs on five hits and earned the win...The Hillcats are now 29-37 in the second half...They sit in third place in the Northern Division 9.0 games behind the Frederick Keys in first place...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats are 7-11 against the Dash this season...Lynchburg is 4-4 when hosting Winston-Salem with two more home games yet to play...Winston-Salem took the season series 16-4 against the Hillcats in 2010...However, the Hill-City has welcomed a new affiliate in the Atlanta Braves this year...Last season the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) nearly split the season series with the Dash taking nine games of 20...

TWO CHANCES TO STAND ALONE: INF Joey Terdoslavich went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and run scored last night...The double was his 51st of the season which matched Woody Fair's single-season Carolina League record, set back in 1946...Terdoslavich now has just two games left to break the record with 52...He has 51 doubles in 129 games this season giving him a double every 2.53 games...

PARTY AT OUR HOUSE': The Potomac Nationals clinched a post-season berth and officially eliminated the Hillcats this past Wednesday night after defeating the Hillcats 6-3 at City Stadium...The 'Cats had to watch as the Nationals crowded their home infield at Calvin Falwell Field...Welcoming the Dash to town this weekend, it's possible the Hillcats may have to witness another celebration...The Dash are currently a game back of the Kinston Indians for first place in the Southern Division...Kinston plays a doubleheader in Potomac tonight, should they sweep both game Kinston clinches, but if they drop both, the Dash will have a chance to clinch tomorrow afternoon in the finale...

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE: C Christian Bethancourt, INF Phil Gosselin, and OF Todd Cunningham are set to play with the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League this year...Bethancourt is regarded by many as the top position player prospect in the Braves organization...He started the year in Rome before being called up to Lynchburg at the All-Star break...Cunningham and Gosselin have been with the Hillcats all season with the exception of time missed due to injury...They were both drafted last year and were rated as the closest to the majors by Baseball America in the Braves 2010 draft class...

YEAR-END ALL-STARS: SS Andrelton Simmons and 1B Joey Terdoslavich were named to the Carolina League year-end All-Star team today...Simmons leads the league in batting average (.305) and hits (154)...His 12.98 plate appearances per strikeout is a league-best mark as well...His 33 doubles rank second in the circuit to Terdoslavich's 50...Terdoslavich also ranks among the league leaders with 18 home runs (T-4th), 75 RBI (4th), 133 hits (T-4th), a .508 slugging percentage (2nd), 70 extra-base hits (1st), and 241 total bases (2nd)...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

WICKED WILEY: OF Keenan Wiley went 1-for-2 last night with two RBI a run scored, and a walk...He's now hit safely in eight of his last nine games and has multiple hits in four of those games...Hitting .324 (12-37) in that span...On the season, he's hitting .285, which is good for third best in the Carolina League...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Matt Wickswat was signed by the White Sox as a non-drafted free agent July 9, 2008 after attending Santa Clara University...In 2010, ranked fifth among all White Sox minor leaguers with 116 strikeouts split between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem...In 2009, led the Pioneer League in ERA (3.84) and strikeouts (91)...Made three appearances for AA Birmingham this season...Spent most of season in bullpen, but began to start in July...Won Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 4-10...Started against Lynchburg on July 14...Gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits in six innings pitched in a win...Also started on August 17...Took loss after giving up three runs, two earned, in seven innings pitched...Has also made two relief appearances against Lynchburg...Pitched a combined five and one-third shutout innings in relief, giving up five hits and striking out four...Currently 5-6 with a 4.25 ERA with Winston-Salem
