THE HILLCATS: Yesterday afternoon Winston-Salem beat Lynchburg with an 11-0 win and they have now taken the first three games of the four-game set...Tonight the Cats play the final game of their series with the Dash and the fourth contest of a seven-game road trip that will round out the 2010 regular season...Lynchburg was officially eliminated from playoff contention with their loss yesterday...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Lynchburg is 4-15 against Winston-Salem this season and 2-7 in the Triad...The Dash have three, three-game series sweeps of the Hillcats this year...Last season the Cats went 11-9 against the Dash...Lynchburg holds the all-time advantage in the series with Winston-Salem 160-153...The last time the Green & Gold traveled to BB&T Ballpark, they got the better of the Dash in two out of three games in the set...

DEMOLITION TEAM: The Dash crushed the Hillcats yesterday 11-0 after they smashed Lynchburg 10-2 on Wednesday night...The 11-0 loss was the biggest margin of defeat this season for the Hillcats, topping the 13-3 loss at BB&T Ballpark on May 21st...Winston-Salem has outscored the Cats by a combined score of 27-2 through three games of the four-game series...Their 15-4 mark against the Green & Gold is the Cats worst mark against any opponent in the Carolina League...Winston is batting .307 with a 2.89 ERA in 19 games against Lynchburg, while the Hillcats are batting .273 with a 5.45 ERA against the Dash...Tonight the Cats look to avoid getting swept by the Dash for the fourth time this season...

AUGUST RUSH: In the month of August Lynchburg went 16-12 to give them their first over .500 month of the season...The Hillcats batted .266 in the month and had a 3.72 ERA...

NO REPEAT: The Hillcats were officially eliminated from playoff contention yesterday with their loss...Lynchburg won the Carolina League championship in 2009 to earn the third league title in Hillcats history and the sixth for Lynchburg in the CL...

NO MORE DAY-O: Yesterday was the Hillcats last day game of the 2010 season...In day games this season they went 6-15, a .286 winning percentage...In night games thus far this season they are 53-60, a .469 winning percentage...

GOOD AFTERTASTE: Sunday night was the last home game of the regular season for the Hillcats...They closed out the home campaign with a 4-3 win in ten innings over the Blue Rocks...Lynchburg went 33-37 in 70 home games in 2010...They finished off their games at City Stadium by going 9-5 in their last two homestands combined...This after they had dropped 13 out of 16 at Calvin Falwell Field...On Sunday the Cats won in walk-off fashion for the sixth time this season in the Hill City...Last season they won their final home game of the season with a walk-off win...They topped Salem in game two of the Mills Cup Championship with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning by UTIL Jose De Los Santos...

HOTCHKISS'D BY A ROSE: RHP Jordan Hotchkiss was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Year yesterday...The right-hander was 10-4 with a 2.30 ERA in 31 games (15 starts)...He was first in the league in ERA, tied for second in wins, tied for first in WHIP (1.03), third in opponents batting average (.211) and he was tops in the league in winning percentage (.714)...Hotchkiss is also leading the Reds minor league organization in ERA and is tied for second in wins...The award marked the third time in in team history a Hillcat has won the Pitcher of the Year honor...The other two were LHP Sean Burnett in 2002 and LHP Zach Duke in 2004...

DOWN SOUTH: OF Dave Sappelt was named the Southern League's Most Valuable Player for the 2010 season...The ninth-rounder started the season with Lynchburg, hitting .282 with four RBI in 18 games prior to his first Double-A call-up on April 30th...With Carolina he batted .361 with nine homers and 62 RBI in 89 games with the Mudcats...His batting average is the highest in team history and appears to be in line to take home the Southern League batting title...Sappelt was promoted to Triple-A Louisville on August 12th, where he has hit .311 in 21 games...Sappelt has hit a collective .340 with nine home runs, 71 RBI and 25 stolen bases, leading all Reds minor leaguers in hitting while ranking fifth in RBI and 5th in steals...

FALL BALL: The Cincinnati Reds announced their representatives for the prestigious Arizona Fall League and the list includes four former Hillcats from 2010...C Devin Mesoraco, OF Dave Sappelt, LHP Jeremy Horst and RHP James Avery will play for the Peoria Saguaros this fall...Three former Hillcats in the Pirates organization will also play in the Fall League, for the Mesa Solar Sox...Pittsburgh's 2009 first-round draft pick (fourth overall) C Tony Sanchez will play with former Cats UTIL Josh Harrison and INF Jordy Mercer...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Terry Doyle was selected by the White Sox in the 37th round of the 2008 draft out of Boston College...His senior year with the Eagles he went 3-8 with a 6.96 ERA in 13 games (12 starts)...Last year he made his professional debut in 2009 with Rookie Great Falls and went 5-1 with a 2.98 ERA in 12 games (10 starts)...This season he began the year with full season Low-A Kannapolis and posted a 4-2 mark with a 0.96 ERA in seven starts with the Intimidators before earning a promotion to Winston-Salem...For the Dash the right-hander has gone 7-8 with a 3.56 ERA in 19 starts...Tonight will be his first start against Lynchburg...
