THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg fell 4-3 in the finale of their series at Wilmington last night as they dropped three-out four in the set...The Hillcats have now lost five of their last six games...Tonight is the first game of a three-game series with Winston-Salem and the first contest of a seven-game homestand for the Cats...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Last season the Hillcats went 11-9 against the Dash and were 6-4 at City Stadium...Lynchburg holds the all-time advantage in the series with Winston-Salem 154-144, and they are 86-65 in the Hill City...The Cats and the Dash are meeting for the first time this season in this series and the Dash enter with the best record in the league...

JUST TAP IT IN: Lynchburg ended an 11-game stretch against the three worst teams in the Carolina League (when entering the 11 games) last night...They won the first three games they played against Kinston (now 15-19), but they then went went 2-6 the rest of the way...The first loss was to the Indians, then they dropped two out of three versus Myrtle Beach (a league worst 11-23) and then they dropped three out of four at Wilmington (14-20)...Tonight starts a stretch of six out of eight sets against the three best teams in the CL (Winston-Salem, Frederick and Salem)...

YOU SPIN ME ROUND (LIKE A RECORD): After winning six out of seven games to pull back to an even .500 mark at 13-13, the Hillcats have lost six of their last eight games and five out of their last six heading into tonight...

CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY: Lynchburg committed six errors in their four-game series at Wilmington which led to ten unearned runs in the set (at least one in every game)...Last night they allowed one unearned run in a one-run loss, Wednesday night they had six unearned runs in a three-run defeat, Tuesday night they had two in a one-run loss and on Monday night they had one unearned run in a one-run loss...In all four games the unearned run total equaled the difference in the game or exceeded it...

WE NEED TO GO BACK KATE: The Hillcats left nine men on base last night in their 4-3 loss to Wilmington...They put the lead-off man aboard five times, including in the ninth inning, but could not bring that man around to score once...The first three times the lead-off batter reached, the Cats were caught stealing in the frame...Lynchburg went just 1-for-12 with men in scoring position on the night...

GOING TRIPLIN': Coming into their series at Wilmington, Lynchburg had only one triple on the season (by INF Cody Puckett)...In the first three games of the series at Wilmington the Hillcats had three triples, two by C Devin Mesoraco in the first two games of the set and one by Puckett Wednesday night...Mesoraco had two career triples coming into the series in 241 games played in three seasons plus...

UP THROUGH THE QUAD TO THE GYMNASIUM: Last night C Devin Mesoraco went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks to keep alive his consecutive on-base safely streak...He has now reached safely in his last 19 games (and hit in 16 of those)...Over that time he is batting .357 (25-for-70) with four doubles, two triples, five homers, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, 11 walks and an OBP of .464...His on-base streak is the longest by a Hillcat this season and is seven shy of the longest streak this year in the Carolina League (OF Brandon Short, Winston-Salem)...On Tuesday night he went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, four RBI and two runs scored...It was the first time this season a Hillcat has had four RBI in one game...On Monday night he went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and a run scored...It was just the second time this season a Hillcat has collected four hits in a game (the other UTIL Neftali Soto on 5/1 vs. POT)...Mesoraco is now eighth in the league in batting average (.330), tied for third in home runs (7), and first in slugging percentage (.623)...

A FINE ADJUSTMENT: UTIL Kevyn Feiner made his Hillcats debut Wednesday night after he was promoted from Low-A Dayton on Monday and went 2-for-4 in his first game with Lynchburg...Last night he went 1-for-3 in his second game with the Cats...He was batting just .146 in 15 games with the Dragons before joining Lynchburg this week...RHP Sean Watson was also added to the roster Wednesday after transferring from Double-A Carolina...Feiner was added when LHP Daryl Harang was placed on the Disabled List and Watson was received after C Chris McMurray was promoted to Carolina...Watson took the tough luck loss last night allowing just one unearned run in two innings of action...Today C Jordan Wideman was promoted from Low-A Dayton to Lynchburg, while OF Justin Reed was transferred to Rookie Billings roster...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Stephen Sauer was selected by the White Sox in the 10th round of the 2008 draft out of Arizona State University...In 2008 with the Sun Devils he went 4-1 with a 4.56 ERA and one save in 25 games (six starts)...He made his professional debut that same year with Rookie Great Falls and had a 3-2 mark with a 3.41 ERA and five saves in 19 games in relief...Last season he progressed to full season Low-A Kannapolis and had a 6-5 record with a 3.36 ERA in 28 games (22 starts)...This season with Winston-Salem he has made six starts and gone 2-1 with a 5.29 ERA for the Dash...Tonight will be his first appearance against Lynchburg...
