Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - Scott Lyman has been lights out for the Hammerheads this season and the trend continued on Tuesday night. Lyman tossed six shutout innings en route to his second win of the year. The right-hander's teammates provided him with five runs of support and it was more than enough as Jupiter came away with a 5-1 win over Fort Myers to complete a sweep of the two game series.

Lyman (2-1) was dealing from the first pitch on Tuesday. He retired the first 10 batters he faced before giving up three straight singles. He then struck out the next two batters to get out of the bases loaded jam.

He was pulled from the game after the sixth with the Hammerheads up 5-0. Lyman fanned five on the evening and he didn't issue a walk. He has struck out 20 and walked just four on the season. The righty has allowed just one run in 25 innings this season which translates to a miniscule 0.36 ERA.

Unlike Lyman's last start with the Hammerheads scored just one run, the offense did the job on Tuesday.

Jupiter got on the board in the third inning. Alonzo Harris drew a leadoff walk to start the frame and Ross Wilson followed with a single to right. When Harris scampered to third and the throw followed him there and Wilson moved up into scoring position. Harris would come home in the next at bat when Noah Perio grounded out.

Cameron Flynn would then hit a sac fly to center plating Wilson and giving the Hammerheads a 2-0 lead.

Jupiter would extend its lead when Matt Juengel crushed a solo home run to left in the bottom of the fourth. It was his first long ball of the year.

The Hammerheads would pick up another run in the frame when Viosergy Rosa doubled and later scored on a single by Wilson, his second hit of the night.

The final Jupiter run would be scored in the fifth. Cameron Flynn reached on a single and three batters later he scored on a hit-and-run single by Rosa into the gap in right-center.

Juan Sosa would allow an unearned run in the seventh and Colby Suggs would toss a pair of shutout innings to preserve the win.

Southpaw Jason Wheeler was handed the loss for Fort Myers. It was the first time this season the Hammerheads picked up a win against a left-handed starter.

Jupiter and Fort Myers will head across the state to Hammond Stadium for a pair of games beginning on Wednesday. The Hammerheads will return home on Friday for a three-game series with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

WP: Scott Lyman (2-1)

LP: Jason Wheeler (1-1)
