Lyman Tosses Six Scoreless in Jupiter Win, 5-1

JUPITER, Fla. (April 22, 2014) - The Jupiter Hammerheads defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 5-1, at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Jupiter starter Scott Lyman hurled six scoreless innings to lower his Florida State League best ERA to 0.36. Lyman (2-1) scattered five hits and struck out five.

The Hammerheads scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning off Miracle starter Jason Wheeler. Alonzo Harris lead off with a walk, then Ross Wilson singled to right. Harris went from first to third and Wilson advanced on Adam Brett Walker's throw from right field. With runners at second and third, Noah Perio drove in the game's first run with a ground ball to second.

Advancing to third on the grounder from Perio, Wilson trotted home on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Flynn to push Jupiter's lead to 2-0.

In the fourth, Wheeler (1-1) surrendered a solo homer to Matt Juengel to start the inning. Juengel sent a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left center for his first homer of the season and a 3-0 lead for the Hammerheads. Jupiter added a second run in the inning on a RBI base hit from Wilson.

Viosergy Rosa added a fifth Jupiter run in the fifth with a run-scoring single into center field. Wheeler finished after 4.2 innings with five runs allowed on seven hits, a walk and three strikeouts.

The only Miracle run came in the seventh inning off Hammerheads reliever Juan Sosa. With one out, Travis Harrison tripled into center field. Max Kepler followed with a ground ball single through the right side to plate Harrison.

Colby Suggs replaced Sosa in the eighth and pitched the final two innings without giving up a run.

The Miracle (9-9) return to Hammond Stadium to continue the series with the Hammerheads (8-10) on Wednesday evening. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m. for Ladies Night Wednesday. Ladies receive free admission and two complimentary drinks. All fans enjoy a mid-week Happy Hour with $2 domestic draft beers from 6-7 p.m.
