
Lunkers Finish First Half with Sweep of Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ON - The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers struck for six runs in the Top of the 7th inning en route to an 8-5 win over the Thunder Bay Border Cats on Wednesday evening at Port Arthur Stadium.
With the win, the Lunkers finish the first half at (20-10), the second best winning percentage in the league.
Aaron Griffin gets the win for the Lunkers as he pitched seven innings and strikes out six. Steven Brault came out to throw two scoreless innings of relief to record his first save.
Logan Birr got the start for Thunder Bay and left in the seventh inning. Lee Valencheck took the loss as he gave up two walks that would lead to the big 7th inning for the Lunkers.
Matt Hillsinger collected three hits on the day for the Lunkers, with Vince Bruno and Nick Hamilton each collecting two.
The Lunkers are back in action Thursday night in a doubleheader at St. Cloud which will kick off the second half of the season. First pitch is set for 6:05. John McLeod will get the start in game one with James Farris getting the start in game two.
