(Brainerd Lakes Area) - The Lunkers could not get the bats going Monday evening as they fell to the Mankato MoonDogs 3-0 at Mills Field.
Mankato scored all three of their runs in the first two innings. The first run scored on an error from Lunker third baseman Dan Olinger, brining home James Roberts. That was followed by a Nick Judkins groundout that made it 2-0.
The MoonDogs added their third run in the second inning, with a Chris Ross groundout that brought home Josh Dahl.
Steven Brault got the start for the Lunkers. He struggled in the first two innings, but settled into the game nicely after that. He pitched six innings, but took the loss.
Mankato's Jordan Remer got the win, going five innings without giving up a run. He walked six and struck out three.
It was the 99th home game in Lunkers history. 99-year-old veteran Andy Thomas threw out the first pitch.
The Lunkers fall to (10-17) with the loss, with Mankato improving to (14-10). The MoonDogs have now won five in a row.
The Lunkers and MoonDogs are back in action Tuesday night at Mills Field. Joe Willman will make his final start for the Lunkers.
