
Lumberjacks Roster Finalized

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that they have finalized their roster for the 2003 season. The Lumberjack made a flurry of transactions to pare the roster down to the league-required 22 players.
The Lumberjacks released outfielder Junior Medina. Medina was entering his second season of professional baseball. Last season, Junior was a role player for the Lumberjacks hitting .255 with a homer and 13 RBI's.
The Jacks also placed outfielder Eddie Rivero on the inactive list. Acquired in a trade this off-season with the Joliet (IL) Jackhammers of the Northern League, Rivero hit .248 with 13 home runs and 32 RBI's. Eddie is a teacher and will finish the school year, but provides the Jacks will valuable left-handed power in reserve.
The Lumberjacks also placed LHP Danny Miller on the disabled list. Miller, last year's Northern League East Rookie Pitcher of the Year, went 9-5 with a 3.42 ERA with the Jacks in 2002. He is expected to be re-activated soon.
The Lumberjacks open the 2003 campaign on the road against the Allentown (PA) Ambassadors on Thursday, May 22, but return to Bangor for the home opener on Friday, May 30 at 7 PM against the New Jersey Jackals at Mahaney Diamond.
