MUSKEGON, Michigan (May 5th) - In advance of the 2 014 USHL Phase One and Two Drafts, the Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced three separate trades in which the organization has obtained two Michigan natives in Forwards Tom Marchin (Algonac) and Griffen Molino (Trenton) from the Lincoln Stars and Sioux Falls Stampede, respectively.

During his first full season in the USHL, Marchin tallied 6 goals and 12 assists in 52 games played with the Stars and also played in four games with the USNTDP during the 2012-13 season (three with the Under-18 Team and one with the Under-17 Team). Prior to being drafted by Lincoln in the sixth round (86th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft, Marchin spent the 2012-13 season with the Honeybaked Midget Major squad recording 19 goals and 14 assists in 29 games played.

In exchange for Marchin, the Lumberjacks have sent affiliates in Forward Dylan Malmquist (Edina, Minnesota) and Defenseman Cameron Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) to Lincoln. Malmquist, the University of Notre Dame commit, was drafted by the Lumberjacks 10th overall during the 2012 USHL Futures Draft and has spent the last three seasons playing high school hockey for the Edina Hornets. Lee, the Providence College commit, was selected by Muskegon in the 4th round (53rd overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase One Draft and has spent the last two seasons playing for Northwood School based out of Lake Placid, New York.

Accordingly, Muskegon adds a second forward in Molino from the Stampede in which the Western Michigan University commit notched 8 goals and 31 assists to go along with a plus-eight rating in 61 games played this past season after being drafted by Sioux Falls in the 26th round (389th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft. Before jumping to the USHL, Molino spent the 2012-13 season in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) with the Brockville Braves accumulating 16 goals and 21 assists in 67 games played.

Along with the addition of Molino, the Lumberjacks pick up the Stampede's fourth round pick in the 2014 USHL Phase Two Draft.

In return for Molino, the Lumberjacks send Sioux Falls Defenseman Chaz Switzer, a 3rd round 2014 Phase Two Draft pick, and a 5th round 2014 USHL Phase One Draft pick. In his one season with the Lumberjacks, Switzer, the Muskegon, Michigan native, registered one assist in 23 games played after spending three years from 2010-13 with the Compuware hockey program and is committed to the Miami University RedHawks following his USHL career.

To conclude the recent transactions made by the organization, the Lumberjacks have traded Forward Matt Mendelson to the expansion Bloomington Thunder in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2015 USHL Phase Two Draft. Mendelson, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native and Penn State University commit, spent the better part of two seasons in Muskegon recording 16 goals and 16 assists to go along with a plus-two rating in 68 games played.
