
Lumberjacks Fizzle out in 6-3 Loss to Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisc. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks fell to the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 6-to-3 on Friday, Dec. 17 from the Resch Center. Jake Braccini, Phil Tresca, and Jake Richard all scored for Muskegon, with Richard picking up three goals in three games. But three-unanswered goals in the third period by Green Bay gave the Gamblers the victory.
1st Period
The Lumberjacks scored the first goal of the contest halfway through the opening period from a snipe by Jake Braccini. Tyler Dunbar and Quinn Hutson notched assists on Braccini's ninth goal of the season to make it a 1-to-0 lead at the 9:59 mark of period one.
But about five minutes later, Green Bay would score the equalizer with a shorthanded goal by Ryan Greene at 15:49 of the period. Jackson Hallum and Jarod Crespo picked up assists to tie the game 1-to-1.
Through one period of play, the Lumberjacks and Gamblers would skate to a 1-to-1 tie heading into the first intermission.
2nd Period
The second period was just as exciting as the Gamblers untied the game at 10:08 of the period to go up 2-to-1. Alex Servagno's sixth of the season was assisted by Luke Weilandt.
But just over three minutes later, the Jacks would tie the game again, this time from alternate captain Phil Tresca, scoring his 12th lamplighter of the season. Jake Richard and Gavin McCarthy picked up helpers at 13:23 to even the score 2-to-2.
Less than 60 seconds later, Green Bay would pull ahead in front 3-to-2 off of a power play goal by Jackson Hallum. Ryan Greene and Damien Carfagna would net assists at 14:12 of the second period.
That would not be all, as Muskegon's Jake Richard scored the leveler at 16:46 to tie the game 3-to-3. Gavin McCarthy and Phil Tresca scooped up assists.
After 40 minutes of action, both sides were once again tied, this time by a score of 3-to-3.
3rd Period
It would be nothing but all Green Bay as they controlled the final period by scoring three unanswered goals. The first one of the period was scored by Brody Lamb while the Gamblers were on the power play. Hallum would earn an assist on the play to make it a 4-to-3 lead for Green Bay.
Just 44 seconds later, Jarod Crespo would give Green Bay the two-goal lead at 9:48 of the third period. Kent Anderson scored the lone assist to give the Gamblers a 5-to-3 lead.
Then at 15:52, Cameron Lund increased the Gambler lead to 6-to-3, with assists coming from Hallum and Greene.
In the end, the Gamblers remained in front of Muskegon and won Friday night's contest by a final score of 6-to-3.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks will finish off their two-game set with game two on Saturday, Dec. 18 before the holiday break against the Green Bay Gamblers. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:05 pm EST from the Resch Center.
