
Lugbauer Breaks Single Season Home Run Record, M-Braves Fall to Shuckers 8-3

PEARL, MS - Drew Lugbauer smashed a two-run homer over the "Visit Mississippi" sign in left field, breaking the franchise single season home run record with his 27th homer in the Mississippi Braves (59-69, 30-29) 8-3 loss to the Biloxi Shuckers (60-67, 26-34) on Friday night at MGM Park.
Lugbauer surpassed Ernesto Mejia (2012) and Mike Hessman (2001). He leads the Southern League with 27 home runs and 79 RBI. Lugbauer holds the M-Braves career home run record with 45 homers in two seasons with Mississippi.
Biloxi scored the first eight runs of the game, hitting three home runs.
RHP AJ Puckett came in during the fourth inning. He struck out the final two batters of the inning and retired five in a row with three strikeouts in his relief appearance.
In the sixth, Lugbauer hit a two-run bomb to make it 8-2. The first baseman has three home runs in the series, including two homers on Wednesday. The homer came after a leadoff double from Jalen Miller.
After reaching base five times last night, Justyn-Henry Malloy went 3-for-5. He roped an RBI single to shallow left field to make it 8-3 in the seventh. He has reached base 12 times in this series.
The M-Braves relievers kept the game alive. LHP Lisandro Santos, RHP Justin Maese and RHP Indigo Diaz each delivered scoreless innings.
The M-Braves went down in order in the ninth to end the game at 8-3.
The fifth game of the series is on Saturday at MGM Park. RHP Nolan Kingham (1-2, 5.63) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Justin Jarvis (0-1, 5.63) for Biloxi. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting at 6:20 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv.
