Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Silver Sox earned a much needed win Thursday, as a five run seventh inning rally propelled them to their first win of the season at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.

The Orange County Flyers scored four runs off of Silver Sox starter Dusty Bergman and led 4-0 going into the seventh inning. But the Sox were determined to leave Orange County with a win.

Reno loaded the bases and 1B Jose Rodriguez came up and hit a ground ball to short that deflected off the glove of SS Brett Levier and rolled into left field allowing two runs to score making it a 4-3 game. Three batters later the bases were loaded again when 2B Mike Done came up and drew a clutch walk to tie the game. Then one of ten wild pitches in the game allowed the go ahead run to score for Reno.

They added two more runs in the eighth to take a 7-4 lead to the ninth. In the final frame, Eric Thomas came in and allowed one run but still earned his third save of the season.

Bergman left the game trailing, but since his teammates scored the five runs in the seventh he earned his fourth win of the year. He pitched six innings allowing four runs on eight hits and struck out four.

The Long Beach Armada come to town to begin a four game series Friday.
