Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa- Young lad Seamus Malone isn't the only Dubuque Fighting Saints player who will be showing his Irish colors Saturday night. He, along with the rest of his teammates, will bring their luck to the arena Saturday night for a pre-St. Patrick's Day party as the Fighting Saints host Irish Night, presented by O'Toole Office Supply. The first 1,000 fans through the doors receive Irish Hand Clappers featuring the O'Toole and Fighting Saints logos for the 7:05 p.m. contest versus Prairie Farms Cowbell Cup rival Cedar Rapids.
The evening will feature the Irish Dancers performing during the first intermission, showcasing Irish dance and culture. The music at the arena will feature Irish jigs, and fans will participate in a hot potato contest during a break in the action. When the music stops, the fan holding the hot potato is the winner of a prize. Fans can also have a chance to win an Irish feast, and a pot of (chocolate) gold will be hidden in the arena for fans to find. Lads needing a drink can visit the DB&T Pub, which will change its name for the evening (from Club) to play along with the theme.
While fans are encouraged to wear green for the evening, it is the primary color of the RoughRiders, so the Fighting Saints have come up with the perfect solution to dress festive, but also cheer on the Saints. "Kiss Me, I'm A Saint," t-shirts will be available at the merchandise stand. These stylish tops are kelly green in color, featuring a shamrock adorned with the Fighting Saints logo. The shirts are available in adult sizes small through extra large for $12 plus tax, with XXL shirts sold for $14 plus tax.
While Seamus Malone and Kyle McKenzie already have things down pat, Fighting Saints fans may hear their favorite players get a bit of an Irish flare to their name. The likes of John O'Stevens and A.J. McFossen will take the ice Saturday for a critical Prairie Farms Cowbell Cup matchup.
The Fighting Saints hope the luck of the Irish is on their side Saturday as they go for their lucky seventh win versus Cedar Rapids this season. Tickets are available to Irish Night by calling 563.583.6880 or online at DubuqueFightingSaints.com. The game will also be televised live on KCRG 9.2 in the Tri-State region.
