Things do not get any easier for the Lubbock Renegades this week, as the winless 0-2 squad, heads over 1,500 miles to Spokane, Washington, where they will face the defending af2 champion Spokane Shock. The Shock have suffered consecutive losses and have a 1-2 season record. Lubbock seeks a win for their first of the season (and in franchise history) and to prevent from going another week of being the only winless team in the Northern Conference's Central Division.
RENEGADES RECAP
The Arkansas Twisters spoiled the Lubbock Renegades inaugural home opener with a 51-48 win in front of a crowd of 2, 407 at City Bank Coliseum Sunday afternoon. Arkansas's Quarterback Brian Villanueva's three passing touchdowns and rush for a score led the way for the win.
Following Twister David Carlton's 19-yard field goal to open the game's scoring, the Renegades found the endzone three times with an Alvance Robinson touchdown reception and rushing scores from Victor Mann and Quarterback Justin Midget for the 20-3 lead through the opening quarter. Arkansas came back with four scores of their own, including two Villanueva passing touchdowns and a 32-yard interception return from Pierre Thomas to close the first half with a 24-20 Arkansas advantage.
The Twisters picked up right where they left off with Robert Kilow's 56-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening kickoff of the second half. Quarterbacks Midget and Villanueva would then each record 1-yard runs making it a 38-27 game. Robinson's second Renegade touchdown reception of the day cut the lead to five, but Arkansas came back with two scores for a 51-33 lead. Lubbock wasn't done scoring as Joey Hawkins caught a 20-yard pass for a touchdown with 0:46 seconds remaining in regulation. A successful Renegades onside kick then led to Preston Hartfield's 33-yard touchdown reception as the lead was cut to three, 51-48 just 12 second's later. Another onside attempt was recovered by Lubbock, but the ball touched a member of the Renegades at the nine yard line, negating the possession and ending Lubbock's comeback hopes.
Lubbock will head out on the road next week for a match with the defending ArenaCup champions the Spokane Shock. Kick-off begins at 7:00 p.m. CST.

SPOKANE'S LAST GAME RECAP
Fort Wayne 63, Spokane 56 (Attendance: 4,215)
Fort Wayne, IN. - The Spokane Shock dropped a heart-breaker as they lost their first road game of the season in Fort Wayne Indiana, 56-63.
The much improved offense was led by QB Andrico Hines (31-39 320 yards with 0 interceptions) who threw five touchdown passes, but was not able to come up with the sixth that would have sent the game into overtime.
With only 23 seconds left in the game, the Shock started their final drive hoping to tie it and send the game into overtime. Hines quickly completed a seven yard pass to WR Raul Vijil (13 receptions for 130 yards) to set up second down and a short three. Hines tried to find Savage on second down, but the pass was dropped for an incomplete pass. Then on third down, Savage and Hines connected for a 33 yard completion, with the ball spotted at the five yard line. On the following play, the Shock were off-sides taking the ball back to the 10-yard line.
Now, with six seconds left the Shock had little time to waste. Hines quickly fired a pass into the endzone to Raul Vijil that fell incomplete. Then, with only one second left, Hines tried to connect with Savage (8 receptions, 181 yards) in the endzone to send it into overtime, but his pass fell incomplete.
