Luke Lowery blasted 28 total home runs in 6 minutes and 30 seconds to defeat the Spokane Indians' LeDarious Clark to claim the first Pioneer League/Northwest League Home Run Derby title at Avista Stadium Tuesday night.
In a league-vs-league bracket-style first round, Lowery scattered eight dingers to defeat fellow All-Star teammate Matt Jones, who hit three, and the Helena Brewers' Zach Fish, who smacked seven.
In the championship round, Lowery continued his dominance, clubbing an impressive 12 homers. Clark answered and matched the 12, forcing a :30 second swing off.
Staying red hot, Lowery found a groove and hit four more before hitting the grand-slam ball adding an extra four to his total. Clark started slow and couldn't keep up, managing only three.
The Missoula Osprey return to the diamond Thursday, traveling to Colorado to square off against the Grand Junction Rockies for the first time this season. Bo Takahashi (5-0, 4.47 ERA) will get the nod for the O's, while the Rockies starter is TBD.
