
Lowell Spoils CT Tigers Home Opener

Norwich, CT - The Lowell Spinners defeated the Connecticut Tigers 2-1 at Dodd Stadium. The Spinners spoiled the Tigers home opener with a 12 inning victory. SS Mauricio Dubon (2-6) broke a 1-1 tie with a 12th inning RBI single. PR Raymel Flores (0-0) stole two key bases which setup the RBI single by Dubon.
In what was a pitching duel between the two starters, RHP Jason Garcia (0-0) pitched five scoreless innings and gave up a pair of hits while striking out five batters for the Spinners. Tigers starter RHP Chase Edwards (0-1) pitched 6 2/3rds innings while giving up one run on six hits.
The Tigers offense struggled for second consecutive night as the team managed one run on five hits. 1B Jacob Kapstein (2-4) contributed with two of the team's five hits. As a team the Tigers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight on base. The Tigers have now left 16 batters on base over the last two games. CF Rashad Brown (1-5) continued his hitting streak to six games.
The Tigers and Spinners wrap up their two-game series at Dodd Stadium tomorrow night. It's Thirsty Thursday: Pre-Game Happy Hour & Drink Specials. Tigers RHP Fernando Perez (0-0, 4.50) is slated to face off against Spinners RHP Heri Quevedo (0-1, 12.00).
