Amarillo Dillas News Release

SAN ANGELO, TX - Amarillo Dillas pitcher Ronald Lowe quietly shut down the San Angelo Colts batters while West Texas A&M product Adam DeLaGarza had a homerun and four RBIs in his professional debut as the Dillas powered past the Colts for a 7-2 opening day win at Foster Field.

Lowe (1-0) went six strong, allowed no earned runs on only three hits while striking out eight and retired 13 of the last 14 batters he faced. The Colts Ezequial Astacio (0-1) got the loss, allowing three runs off eight hits, walking none while striking out eight. New Amarillo face TJ Warren went 3-3 with a pair of RBIs in the effort.

The Colts found themselves with a first inning advantage as Ronnie Gaines reached on a two-out error and scored on a following Jason Landreth RBI double for an early 1-0 San Angelo lead.

The Dillas responded in the second inning as veteran catcher Matt Ceriani hit a one-out single and went to third on a Steven Douglas double. Newcommer TJ Warren scored his first two Dillas RBIs with a single to score both runners. Following a Cory Wine single that put runners on the corners, DeLaGarza used his first career plate appearance to hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Warren for a 3-1 Dillas lead.

In the seventh, following a Wine walk, DeLaGarza added to his first career game with a one-out homerun off fellow rookie Scott Crook. The infielder's first professional hit and homerun extended the Dillas lead. Following a Jermel Lomack walk and advancing to second on a groundout, Carlos Figueroa stroked a two-out double to score Lomack for a 6-1 lead.

After Dillas rookie pitcher Dane Little pitched a scoreless seventh, the Dillas scored again in the eighth. After three walks loaded the bases with one out, DeLaGarza grounded out, but scored Douglas for another run for a 7-1 Amarillo lead. Little ran into trouble in the eighth with two runners on and one out, but a popout and a strikeout got him out of the inning without any Colts run scoring. Amarillo's Brent Buffa allowed a run in the ninth inning, but preserved the win over the Colts at 7-2.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 1-0 while the Colts fall to 0-1. Friday, Amarillo will face the Colts in San Angelo for the final game of the opening two-game series of the season at 7:05pm. The game can be heard on www.sanangelocolts.com. Game time is tentative and subject to blackout.
