Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSON, Ten. - The Biscuits (10-16) stormed into West Tennessee on Wednesday night and clubbed their way to a 12-5 victory against the first-place Jackson Generals (17-8) in their series opener at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The Biscuits, who left Montgomery for the five-and-a-half drive to Jackson at seven in the morning on Wednesday, had their bus break down on the way, leaving them stranded on the side of the highway waiting over two hours for roadside assistance. The lengthy day didn't seem to effect the club's efforts at all, however, as the Biscuits jumped out to a two-run lead in the first thanks to Brandon Lowe's two-run double off Sam Lewis (2-3).

Perhaps the Biscuits were just taking out their frustration on the right-hander, as Nick Solak added an RBI-double in the third, and Lowe followed that up in the next at-bat with a two-run single to give the second baseman four RBIs through the first three innings, putting the Biscuits ahead 5-0.

Montgomery starter Genesis Cabrera (3-2) was terrific in his sixth start of the season, hurling six innings of one-run ball to go along with five strikeouts. But the Biscuits offensive surge wasn't finished, as they doubled their lead to 10-0 in the fifth. Lowe capped off his big day knocking in his fifth run-a team high-on a single, while Nathan Lukes doubled home a run, and Mike Brosseau brought home a pair with a single of his own.

Brett Sullivan would add the cherry on top to what felt like one of the longest days in Biscuits history with a moonshot of a two-run homer over the right field wall, as the Biscuits coasted to the seven-run win.

The Biscuits will try to make it three wins in a row for the second time this season on Thursday when Zach Lee (3-0) clashes with Alex Young (3-1) in the second of a five-game series.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium on Monday, May 7 to face the Biloxi Shuckers at the start of a 10-game home stand that will feature Craft Beer Night on Wednesday, May 9, Nurses Appreciation Night featuring a T-Shirt giveaway presented by Shaw Technology on Thursday, May 10, and Family Faith Night with Faith Radio Pre-Game Concert & MAX Fireworks on Saturday, May 11.
