 NBA G League

Los Angeles acquires McGuire, T-Birds pick up Shumate

January 22, 2007 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2007 - Prior to today's NBA Development League game between Los Angeles and Albuquerque, both the D-Fenders and the Thunderbirds have made roster moves.

Los Angeles acquired forward Jeremee McGuire to fill the roster spot vacated when Kevin "Butter" Johnson left the team for personal reasons. McGuire (6-11, 222) played in 42 games (14 starts) for the Dakota Wizards and Yakima Sun Kings (CBA) last season, averaging 24.0 minutes, 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shot. The University of Houston product has also played in the USBL and the Tokyo Apache League in Japan.

Albuquerque picked up forward Chris Shumate (6-6, 215), who played in 46 games for the Arkansas RimRockers in the D-League last season, averaging 11.4 minutes, 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds. To make room for Shumate, whom Albuquerque took in the seventh round of the 2006 D-League Draft and then waived on Nov. 13, the Thunderbirds released forward Mo Charlo.

Johnson played in 16 games for Los Angeles, averaging 8.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 18.2 minutes. Charlo had played in six games since being picked up by Albuquerque on Jan. 12, averaging 18.5 minutes, 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.

McGuire and Shumate are expected to be in uniform today when the D-Fenders (11-11) are host to Albuquerque (9-13).
