August 16, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

The Blue Wahoos got some additional depth for their bullpen with Reds 2013 first round pick Michael Lorenzen. Since getting drafted in June, the right-hander has struck out 14 batters over 15 innings. Pensacola will be the 21-year-old's fourth stop in the Reds system after getting drafted out of Cal State Fullerton.

In three years at Fullerton, he was a two-way player patrolling the outfield in addition to pitching out of the Titans bullpen. The two-time USA Baseball Collegiate Team member hit .335 with seven home runs and 53 RBI as an outfielder in his final season while earning 19 saves with a 1.99 ERA on the mound.

In a corresponding move Loek Van Mil has been placed on the disabled list with a right upper arm strain. He left Wednesday's game with an injury to his pitching arm in the 13th inning after walking the leadoff man in the inning. He is 0-8 with a 3.34 ERA in 47 games this season with the Wahoos.

Transaction Notice: RHP Michael Lorenzen transferred from Bakersfield to Pensacola; RHP Loek Van Mil placed on the disabled list (right upper arm strain).
