
Loop Breaks Record, Skeeters Sweep Double-Header and Series

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Sugar Land Skeeters swept their double-header against the Bridgeport Bluefish on Thursday night, winning 4-2 in Game 1 and 1-0 in Game 2 to sweep the series. The Skeeters are 21-13 in the second half and moved to a half game ahead of York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
In Game 1, Jake Hale earned his 5th win of the season after going 5 1/3 innings and giving up only one run on six hits with two strikeouts. Blake Beavan picked up his 4th loss after also going 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on ten hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Bridgeport struck first in the 3rd as a pair of RBI singles from Luis Hernandez and Endy Chavez put the Bluefish up 2-0. Ricky Hague tied the game in the 5th with a two-run double that scored Rene Tosoni and Jeff Dominguez. Hague finished the night 3-4 with 2 RBI.
Jeff Dominguez broke the tie in the top of the 6th by singling home Jeremy Barfield to put the Skeeters up 3-2. Rene Tosoni knocked in Wilfredo Rodgriguez on a fielder's choice later in the inning to give the Skeeters a 4-2 lead.
Derrick Loop earned his 26th save of the season and passed Gary Majewski for most saves by a Skeeter in a single season.

In Game 2, Brett Marshall earned his 2nd victory of the season after going five shutout innings with three strikeouts. Sam Gervacio was pegged with the loss in his 1st start of the season, giving up a run after only going three innings.
Jeff Dominguez scored the lone run in the game, launching a solo shot off the the scoreboard in the 3rd inning to give the Skeeters a 1-0 lead. Zech Zinicola came on in the 7th to record his 3rd save of the season.
