Central Islip, N.Y.,- The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 7-4 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.
Somerset opened the scoring in the first inning on David Vidal's two-run home run to left field off Ducks starter Eury De La Rosa. Long Island closed to within 2-1 in the second when Ruben Gotay scored from first on a fielding error.
RBI doubles by Gotay and Mike Dowd in the fourth off Patriots starter Rudy Owens put the Ducks in front 3-2. The Patriots took the lead back though in the fifth on a two-out, two-run homer to right by Aharon Eggleston. A two-run double to left-center by Carlos Guzman in the sixth extended the advantage to 6-3.
