LANSING, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons (8-8, 42-44) broke a tie with two runs the eighth inning and held on for a 5-3 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (9-7, 41-44) on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Great Lakes designated hitter Webster Rivas grounded into a fielder's choice to plate the go-ahead run, and scored later in the inning on a wild pitch by Lansing reliever Roberto Espinosa (Loss, 1-1).

After falling behind 3-0 in the third, the Lugnuts rallied to tie the game in the fifth. Second baseman David Harris and center fielder Anthony Alford opened the frame with back-to-back home runs.

Later in the inning, designated hitter Mitch Nay singled in D.J. Davis to tie the game, 3-3.

That was all of the offense Lansing could put together, and the Great Lakes bullpen held the Lugnuts scoreless and hitless the rest of the night.
