Chattanooga jumped on Suns starter Scott Elbert in the first inning as Noochie Varner plated a run with a single to open a 1-0 lead. The Lookouts scored again in the second inning as Drew Anderson led off the frame with his first hit with Chattanooga, a solo homerun to the grass berm past left field that increased the Chattanooga lead to 2-0.
The Lookouts jumped on Elbert again in the fifth inning as Varner drove home another run on a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 advantage. Later in the inning Rick Asadoorian hit his second homerun of the season, a two-run shot that opened a 5-0 Lookouts lead.
Jacksonville had only recorded an infield single and three walks against Chattanooga starter Tyler Pelland until the sixth inning when Wilkin Ruan led off the frame with a double. A Nick Alvarez single off of reliever David Shafer later in the inning scored Ruan and cut the Lookouts lead to 5-1.
