Lookouts Close out Regular Season with a 5-1 Win over Smokies
September 1, 2014 - Southern League (SL1)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
The Chattanooga Lookouts (35-33) close out the regular season on a high note, winning an afternoon game against the Tennessee Smokies (33-37), 5-1 on Labor Day.
The game started about as good as you can ask for when the leadoff hitter for the Lookouts, Jeremy Hazelbaker, took the first pitch that came out of the hand of Ivan Pineyro (L, 0-4) over the wall for a solo home run. The Nutrition World Player of the Game, J.C. Boscan, matched that in the bottom of the second inning with a bomb of his own to make the score 3-0. The team added two more in the bottom of the sixth inning to give them five runs on the afternoon and 608 on the season.
The pitching also continued to be good for the Lookouts, as Jeremy Kehrt pitched four shutout innings before giving way to the bullpen.
The regular season is over, but the Lookouts have made their way to the playoffs and will face off against the first-half winners, the Huntsville Stars. The first two games of the Best-of-Five Southern League North Division Playoffs will be held in Huntsville, but the series shifts to Chattanooga for Game 3 on Saturday, September 6 at 7:15 pm.
