Worcester Tornadoes News Release
BROCKTON, MA- Brockton and Worcester snuck in nine innings tonight just before the rain of tropical storm Danny began to fall. The Tornadoes dropped game one of the three game weekend set 6-0.
Jeff Long (6-4) twirled a three hit complete game shut out this evening, striking out three and walking a pair. It was his first full game effort, and the twelfth for the Rox as a staff. Only one Tornado was able to reach scoring position.
Worcester lefty Zack Zuercher (7-5) turned in a quality start but will leave with Campanelli Stadium with his fifth loss of the season, his first since the sixth of July. The three run shot from Keith Brachold (11) was all Brockton would need, but they would tack on another unearned run after an error from newly aquired shortstop Greg Lemon. Southpaw bullpen pitcher Steve Cadoret also made his orange and black debut this evening, striking out four and surrendering two earned in two innings.
Tomorrow night at 6:05 from Brockton the Tornadoes will try to get back on the right track and back above .500 when Chris Farley (4-3) takes the hill against Freddy Flores (5-4).
