Brockton starting pitcher Jeff Long struck out three in a three-hit shutout of Worcester to help the Rox improve to 22-16 in the second half. The victory for Long ran his mark to 6-4 on the season. With the win and a Quebec win over New Hampshire, Brockton remains two games behind the Capitales for the second half title. RF Keith Brachold chipped in with a 1-for-3 effort that included a three-run homer, his 11th of the season.

Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, it looked as if Quebec's lead atop the second half standings would slip to just one game over the Brockton Rox. But a two-run pinch-hit single off the bat of Tony Lewis propelled the Capitales to the win column and earned Quebec a spot in the playoffs. LF Alex Nunez led the way at the plate for Quebec, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. New Hampshire 1B Angel Molina was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the losing effort.
