Long Island Nets Defeat Greensboro Swarm on Franchise-Record Shooting Night

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (16-20), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Greensboro Swarm (8-30) 123-84 tonight at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Long Island was led by guard/forward Justin Anderson, who finished the contest with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range while adding seven rebounds and 10 assists in 30 minutes of action. He recorded his second double-double as a Net in the effort. Long Island forward Jonathan Kasibabu also recorded a double-double in the win, finishing the game with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field to go along with 13 rebounds and four blocks in 26 minutes of play.
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Dzanan Musa, while on assignment with Long Island, finished the contest with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and added nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in 30 minutes of play. Fellow Brooklyn Nets assignee Nicolas Claxton also had a strong night, finishing the contest with 19 points on a near-perfect 8-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds and four blocks in 22 minutes off the bench.
Hornets forward Dwayne Bacon, while on assignment with Greensboro, finished the contest with a game-high 23 points while also adding six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 37 minutes of play. Swarm center Tai Odiase added 14 points, six rebounds and a block in 22 minutes off the bench.
Long Island shot 61.5 percent from the field (48-of-78) tonight, which marked the teams' highest field goal percentage in franchise history. The Nets were also able to hold Greensboro to just 29.8 percent shooting from the field (31-of-104), the lowest field goal percentage by a Nets opponent this season.
Long Island jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead over the opening 1:08 before a quick timeout from the Swarm. Greensboro would respond, taking a 16-15 lead with 6:27 left to play in the quarter. The Nets, however, would pull back ahead to close out the first leading 32-27.
Long Island carried over its strong end to the first by outscoring Greensboro 16-9 midway through the second, taking a 48-36 lead. The Nets would go on to outscore the Swarm 33-21 in the quarter, taking a 65-48 into the half.
Both teams traded blows to open the second half, with the Swarm cutting the Nets lead to 12 points with 8:41 left to play in the third. The Nets, however, pulled away late in the quarter and ended up outscoring Greensboro 33-16 in the quarter to take a commanding 98-64 lead into the fourth.
Despite owning a 34-point lead entering the fourth, the Nets refused to take their foot off the gas, expanding the lead to as many as 40 points with 5:53 left to play. The Nets would go on to close out the historic performance by the final score of 123-84.
The Nets play their next game against the Erie Bayhawks on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. ET at NYCB LIVE, while the Swarm will travel to Westchester to take on the Knicks next on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. ET.
