Green Bay Rockers News Release
In a second consecutive extra inning game, the Loggers rallied to score three runs in the 10th inning to defeat the Bullfrogs 7-4.
The scoring started early for both teams. The Loggers took the early lead, as Michael Katz drove in Eric Toole from third with a RBI single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead after the first half inning.
The 'Frogs struck back in the bottom half of the first to take the lead. An RBI single from Nick Torres scored Ryan Drobny to tie the game at 1-1. Jose Godinez then hit an infield single that was followed by an error from LaCrosse that allowed Torres to score, giving the Bullfrogs a 2-1 lead after the first.
The Bullfrogs struck back again in the fifth inning a RBI single from Ryan Drobny and then a sacrifice fly from Nick Torres to bring home the second run of the inning. The 'Frogs led it 4-1 through five innings.
Green Bay had a 4-1 lead over the Loggers after the fifth inning. However, after a lead-off walk to Kevin Zak from starting pitcher Johnathon Tripp, Katz hit his eighth home run of the season to narrow down the 'Frogs lead to 4-3 after the sixth inning.
After a triple play ended the Bullfrogs' threat in the bottom of the sixth inning, La Crosse tied things up in the seventh. Mike Nadratowski singled to lead off the inning and stole second base to get into scoring position. On a fly ball out to right field, Nadratowski tagged and took third base. The throw from Nick Torres in right field hopped into the La Crosse dugout and out of play, allowing Nadratowski to score.
After a few scoreless innings, the Bullfrogs had an opportunity to walk-off for a second consecutive game, but Boomer White was thrown out at home from a ground ball hit to the shortstop Nick Day. The Bullfrogs wound up stranding two runners in the ninth, and the game headed to extra innings for a second consecutive day.
After an 11-inning game on Saturday, only 10 were needed on Sunday, however. LaCrosse came out swinging in the 10th. Connor Teykl doubled to left field, bringing home Johnny Bekakis and pinch-runner Brandon Defazio. The Loggers scored another insurance run on a wild pitch, and La Crosse held a commanding 7-4 lead after the top of the tenth.
Green Bay was able to get runners on the corners, but were unable to bring any runs home to tie the game up and force an 11th inning.
The win went to Loggers reliever James Guillen, and loss to Bullfrogs reliever Matt Freeman. Green Bay falls to 6-12 in the second half and 22-31 overall.
