Local Talent LB Patrick Green Joins the Cobras

October 5, 2020 - National Arena League (NAL) - Carolina Cobras News Release

Patrick Green (6' 2" 231, ECU), Carolina Cobras went straight to him for his story, this is what Green had to say "First I want to Thank my Pops for introducing me to the game of football. I started when I was 6 years old. Ever since then I have been in love with the game, but little do others know basketball was my first option, but I started out growing everyone I grew up with. Was blessed to get the opportunity to become a star player and leader at North Forsyth High School where I made All-Conference 3 years in a row and MVP of the conference in 2013. I was a two-position player WR/LB. I feel I haven't given my all to the game yet, so God gave me a second chance to do that and I'm here to take full advantage.

Later went on to play at East Carolina University from 2013-2017 as a young adult, you make mistakes and learned I wasn't the perfect player there but when my number was called I did my best, did most of my damage on special teams. I transitioned to MLB from OLB, I feel I could have been a good fit for the team. I'm an athlete so I can play any position. I feel, I trust my ability to make plays and that showed when I transferred to WSSU where I made All-CIAA. This was coming off an injury as I didn't play the 2017 season but came back in 2018 and made a name for myself.

When ECU played UCF in 2015, I recorded seven tackles and two forced fumbles, I did the same against Townson. I felt that year was my year, but I was at ECU during a time where everyone was good. The intensity we had at practice and everything was different just because we knew how great each one of us could be. I was grateful for my time at ECU but it wasn't the best fit for me. Winston-Salem State helped me slow down the game and actually appreciate it. My pops always told me "Never put your future in someone else's hands" it's time for me to get back in control. I play this game because it brings me peace. I'm ready to show the world what I can do! Dedicating this season to my parents, RIP, my mother she passed in 2018 and my pops is one of my biggest fans can't let him, my mom, all my family and I can't let them down this is what I'm destined to do.

The message I have for Cobra Nation is - "Dreams are free, grind sold separately, what did you do today?" - Darius Victor

F IT WE BALL!!!!!"

Head Coach Josh Resignalo said "Pat Green is another local stand out HS football player. One thing I wanted to do was get some local talent to come back home or stay home to play with the Cobras. Unless it's the NFL, CFL or XFL, there is no reason for a player trying to advance their career to leave the state of North Carolina to pursue the next level. They have one of the top teams in the country right in their backyard. We have been successful in doing so, and still looking to add a few more. There is a lot of talent in NC, with a lot of that in the Piedmont Triad. Pat is from the Winston area and was a stand-out athlete at North Forsyth HS. He went on to play at ECU and finished at Winston Salem State. He is going to add some depth on defense. He is very athletic and can play LB and put his hand down. So, will be good in camp for him to learn the arena game and look to be a part of another top Cobras defense. We are excited to see what he can bring to the table."
