Meanwhile Bob Brown of Brandon has been chosen this year's winner in the MTS Connect "My Greatest Wheat King Memory" and for doing so, has won a pair of Bulova watches from McCallum Jewellers (located in Shoppers Mall).

During the 2006-07 season, fans were encouraged to visit the hockey club's official web site and tell us their favorite memories, in celebration of the Wheat Kings' 40th Anniversary in the WHL.

"My greatest memory," says Brown "would have to be the 1996 championship series between Spokane and Brandon. Myself and two other friends drove 16 hours straight through to Spokane to watch games four and five of the best of 7 Championship series. Seeing the Wheat Kings hoist the President's Cup in front of 10,000 Spokane fans and a handful of Wheat King fans was just truly awesome to see in person."

Brown will be presented his new watches by Brent McCallum (McCallum Jewellers) and John Falloon (MTS Connect) during the first intermission of Saturday's playoff game at the Keystone Centre.

Speaking of the playoffs, there are plenty of tickets remaining for games one and two of Brandon's opening round series with the Prince Albert Raiders. Fans can visit the Keystone Centre box office, call 726-3555 or go online at ticketmaster.ca

The Wheat Kings won the opening game of the best of seven series Friday night on Daniel Bartek's second goal of the game, at the 5:11 mark of overtime.
