
Lobstein Brilliant in 5-2 Win

The SeaWolves used a solid starting pitching performance and clutch hitting on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium as they took down the Eastern Division leading Binghamton Mets 5-2.
The Mets struck for a pair on Erie starter Kyle Lobstein in the bottom of the second. Richard Lucas and Darrell Ceciliani each singled with one out bringing up Alonzo Harris. Harris lifted a bloop single to right, plating Lucas for a 1-0 lead and moving Ceciliani to third. Xorge Carrillo sent a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Ceciliani for a 2-0 lead.
The 'Wolves got on the board in the top of the third against Mets starter Logan Verrett when James Robbins led off and connected on an opposite-field, solo home run to left, cutting the Mets lead in half. The home run was the fourth of the year for Robbins and his third in the last six games.
Erie went ahead of the Mets in the top of the sixth. Marcus Lemon led off with an opposite-field double. On a sacrifice bunt attempt by Zach Maggard, Verrett went for the out at third and Lemon slid around the tag allowing both runners to reach safely. Jamie Johnson followed with an opposite-field triple, plating a pair for a 3-2 lead.
In the top of the eighth, the 'Wolves extended their lead. Johnson reach base with his 47th walk with one out. With two down, Hernan Perez blasted a two-run home run to left for a 5-2 lead. The homer for Perez was his fourth.
Lobstein (7-4) held the Mets a bats silent following the two-run second inning. He finished the night allowed two runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in eight innings of work. It was the fourth time this season that the Erie lefty has worked at least eight innings as he earned his team leading seventh win.
Justin Souza worked a scoreless ninth inning earning his 15th save.
The 'Wolves and Mets meet in the middle game of the series on Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium at 7:05 p.m. RHP Jon Link (0-0, 0.00 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against LHP Mark Cohoon (3-3, 4.88 ERA).
