July 18, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Liverpool FC announced its list of players that will travel to Toronto for Saturday's friendly match against Toronto FC in the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge at Rogers Centre. Kick off is at 4 p.m.
Liverpool's roster features club and English National Captain Steven Gerrard along with England internationals: Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Andrew Carroll. The roster also includes Danish National Captain Daniel Agger and newly signed Italian international Fabio Borini, who both took part in last month's UEFA EUROPEAN Championship.
Liverpool won their first trophy since 2006 by defeating Cardiff City in the Carling Cup Final last season. The Reds were also finalists in the FA Cup where they fell to Chelsea. Liverpool is led by manager Brendan Rodgers, who was hired from Swansea City earlier this summer.
Following the match against Toronto, Liverpool will play in two more friendlies on North American soil. On July 25, Liverpool will meet Italian side AS Roma at Fenway Park in Boston, then on July 28 they will face English Premiership rival Tottenham Hotspur at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
