Little Leaguers Get Big League Opportunity

(OTTAWA) May 15, 2008 - In keeping with their dedication to community involvement, the Ottawa Rapidz is pleased to announce Little League Day at Rapidz Stadium. On Saturday, May 17, 2008, fourteen Little League teams from the Ottawa-Gatineau region will have the chance to play at Rapidz Stadium.
After one of the harshest winters on record, many of the baseball diamonds around the city were late opening and some are still under repair, leaving Little League teams with reduced playing time. When Rapidz Manager Ed Nottle heard about the problem he was quick to suggest a day at Rapidz Stadium. "These are young, enthusiastic players and they're the future of baseball. We're happy to give up some of our practice time on the field to give them a day and night they'll always remember."
The schedule for the day has two teams from each of the following districts:
1:00 PM District 6 (South Ottawa)
2:20 PM District 6 (Carleton-Russell)
3:45 PM Outaouais (Braves du Coin-Hull vs Royal de Gatineau, Pee Wee A)
5:00 PM Outaouais (Aylmer Rebels vs Chelsea Cardinals, Pee Wee A)
6:20 PM Outaouais (Gatineau Draveurs vs Aylmer Buckeyes, Bantam A)
7:30 PM District 2 (East Nepean vs West Carleton/Arnprior)
9:00 PM District 2 (Pinecrest vs Carlingwood - Frank Ryan)

The Ottawa Rapidz is proud to bring professional baseball to fans in the Ottawa-Gatineau region in a fun, affordable, family-friendly environment. The Rapidz begin the season with an Exhibition Game against rivals Quebec Capitales on Sunday, May 18th at 1:05pm. The Rapidz regular season opens Thursday, May 22 with a four-game homestand against the New Jersey Jackals.
