B.C. Lions News Release

Following a 41-5 dismantling of the Montreal Alouettes last Saturday, the Leos are back to .500 on the season, but still have an uphill climb to catch the frontrunners in a tight West Division. Among the leaders at the top is a resurgent Winnipeg Blue Bombers club that currently sits at 3-1 on the year, but come off a disappointing loss at home to the unbeaten Edmonton Eskimos.

Kevin Glenn gets his fifth-straight start at quarterback for the Leos and looks to be growing more and more comfortable in the club's offence with each "˜passing' week. The veteran pivot not only notched the 39th 300-yard performance of his career last week (23/31/301), he also became just the 10th quarterback in CFL history to eclipse the 40,000-yard mark.

Running back Andrew Harris has put together award winning back-to-back performances and always has some extra motivation against his hometown team. Look for Glenn, Harris and the entire offence to try get things rolling early versus a Bomber club coming west in a growly mood following a 26-3 drubbing at the hands of the Eskimos.

On defence, the Lions are looking like a formidable group surrendering just a field goal to the Als offence last week and currently giving up a league-low of 168 passing yards per game. Led by Solomon Elimimian, the CFL's top defensive performer with 27 tackles, the Leos will face relative newcomer Drew Willy who has thrown for 1,051 yards on the year which trails only Toronto's Rick Ray. Winnipeg surrendered five sacks last week while mustering 241 yards of total offence, so look for the Leos to try and repeat their own defensive effort which held Montreal to just 62 yards through the air and 153 yards overall.

It's the Lions and Blue Bombers in a Friday night fight at BC Place with plenty of West Division implications on the line and a halftime celebration honouring one of the very best players to ever put on a Lions jersey.

There's no better way to enjoy summer than Lions football and two of the best ways to take in the action are the Global BC Family Zone ($30 including free hotdog and small pop) and the Gemstone Gridiron Deck ($30). Both sections are on sale now - visit ticketmaster.ca or call 604.589.ROAR for more information.
