Game Preview
They say in football you're either winning or learning and through the first half of 2019 there has been plenty of tough lessons for a Lions squad in need of victories. Despite enduring a pair of heartbreaking losses on the road, head coach DeVone Claybrooks' squad remains united and even more motivated to turn in an inspired 60-minute performance Saturday night to take the first step in salvaging the second half of the season.
There are plenty of bright spots that the Leos can look to for inspiration as quarterback Mike Reilly sits second among all CFL pivots in passing yards and is just 224 yards from reaching the 30,000-yard plateau for his career. Receivers Bryan Burnham and Lemar Durant are both in the top-10 among the league's pass-catchers with running back John White also in the top-five in rushing yards.
Last week, the club re-acquired defensive lineman Shawn Lemon who provided an immediate spark in Winnipeg with a pair of sacks and a forced fumble. They'll need another strong effort from the entire defence to keep the likes of Hamilton's Brandon Banks under wraps Saturday.
It's the Lions and Ticats in a Saturday night battle which promises plenty of fireworks and an edgy Leos squad looking for a much-needed win.
Single game tickets for all home games are on sale.
