64 Kids Become Eskimos for Day
(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimos and Boston Pizza invite media to The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium this Saturday, August 24, from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. when 64 kids will sign one-day contracts with the Edmonton Eskimos as part of the Boston Pizza Eskimo for Day program.
"The Boston Pizza Eskimo for a Day event is one of my favourite yearly traditions," says Eskimos Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Brock Sunderland. "It's always fun to meet and interact with our young fan base to hear who their favourite players are and why the love the Eskimos."
"Community is a key pillar for Boston Pizza and being able to organize this event again with the Eskimos felt like a perfect fit," says Boston Pizza Regional Marketing Coordinator Jessica Mantini. "It's going to be an experience of a lifetime and we're really excited to give kids the opportunity to be an Edmonton Eskimo for a day".
The youth, who were selected through contesting at local Boston Pizza locations, will participate in physical "try-out" drills with their soon-to-be teammates: Edmonton Eskimos long snapper Ryan King, full back Calvin McCarty, defensive lineman Almondo Sewell and offensive lineman Matt O'Donnell prior to signing their one-day contracts.
