B.C. Lions News Release
VANCOUVER, B.C. July 4, 2002 â BC Lions General Manager, Adam Rita, today announced the signing of wide receiver Larry Thompson. In keeping with team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Thompson, a 5'11", 170-pound native of Fairfield, California, makes his return to the CFL after three years out of the League. Thompson has played for the Lions before; he spent three seasons with BC from 1996-98. After joining the team for the last nine games of the 1996 season, Thompson managed to finish third on the team in receptions with 34, for 523 yards and one touchdown. That season he had over 100-yards receiving in two games, and saw limited action as both a punt and kick returner.
Originally from Solano Community College, Thompson played 24 games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1991-92, 19 games for Saskatchewan in 1994-95, and then 12 games for Hamilton in 1995 before arriving in BC. During those four seasons, Thompson made 212 catches for a total of 3,596 yards, an average of 17.0 yards per reception. In 1998, his last year in the CFL, Thompson began the season with Winnipeg, before starting 11 games for Saskatchewan, where he made 23 catches for 386 yards and one touchdown.
In 1996, Thompson spent time with the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.
