Lions Host Stamps in Wally Buono Home Finale Presented by Nissan
October 30, 2018 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions put their 7-1 home record on the line Saturday night as they play host to the Calgary Stampeders with kickoff slated for 7:00 pm.
Saturday also marks the final home game in the incredible coaching career of Canadian Football Hall of Famer Wally Buono. To celebrate his last home game, the first 5,000 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a commemorative Wally Buono bobblehead courtesy of BC Place. As well, 5,000 Wally Buono 'Big Heads' sponsored by BOSA Construction will be scattered around the stadium seats randomly.
Fans are encouraged to arrive in their seats early as the Lions pay tribute to Wally with a special 'lights out' pregame team introduction and plenty of Orange and Black legends on hand.
Like every home game there's lots going on outside the stadium during the pregame Nissan Tailgate Party on Terry Fox Plaza with food and beverage specials on the patio or the Gate C Kids Zone presented by LONDON DRUGS, featuring inflatables, face painting and more - click here for a complete pregame rundown.
Game Preview
With their playoff path now set as the crossover team, the Lions look to finish off the 2018 regular season with a win over a Calgary Stampeders team still trying to clinch first in the West Division. Both clubs come off losses heading into Saturday's tilt and neither squad wants to stumble into the postseason, so there's plenty at stake this weekend.
It's been a wild ride for the Lions in 2018 as the club fought back from a 3-6 record at the midway point of the season to win six of its past eight games and make the playoffs. With a trip to Hamilton for the Eastern Division Semi-Final on the horizon, the final chapter in the coaching history of Wally Buono might end up being the most compelling one yet.
