(Vancouver) It may only be Week 4 of the CFL season, but the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos are on a collision course this Friday night and it could very likely have season-long implications in what's shaping up to be a tight West Division in 2012.

The Lions take a six-game regular season home unbeaten streak into Friday's tilt presented by Purolator Tackle Hunger and have also been victorious over the Eskimos in their last four encounters including the 2011 Western Final.

"This is a critical game for our club," said Lions head coach Mike Benevides. "We are a team that feeds off the excitement of our fans at home and Friday's game will be a significant test for our players."

The Lions and Eskimos are currently tied for second spot in the standings behind the unbeaten Saskatchewan Roughriders and neither club wants to fall off the pace.

Friday's encounter is also very important for another reason as the BC Lions Football Club and Purolator encourage fans to help do their part to tackle hunger by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation to BC Place.

Volunteers, including wives, girlfriends and family members of the BC Lions will be stationed at Gates A and H ready to help collect donations which will be turned over to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Surrey Food Bank.

Currently, more than 25'000 people use the Greater Vancouver Food Bank weekly through 15 food depots and over 100 community agencies located in Vancouver' Burnaby' New Westminster and the north shore. The Surrey Food Bank services thousands of families and individuals annually. Receiving no government funding, their efforts are entirely dependent upon both personal and corporate donations along with various fundraising programs.

Last week, fans in Regina contributed more than 57,400 lbs of donations through Purolator's highly-successful Tackle Hunger program and Lions fans will have their eyes set on that mark this Friday. In return for their donation, fans have the opportunity to receive a souvenir photo with the Grey Cup along with Lions great Brent Johnson who will be inducted onto the club's Ring of Honour at halftime.

The fun starts at 5:00 pm as Nissan presents the BC Lions Street Party located at the corner of Beatty and Robson Streets featuring the live music of the Jared Suitor Band, face painting, poster making, interactive games and a performance by the 2012 Felions.

Fans can catch all the hard-hitting Lions action in 2012 by visiting 7-Eleven locations across the Lower Mainland. For just $76 including all taxes and fees, Lions faithful will receive two tickets in the Touchdown Endzone, a savings of $10 while supplies last. -30- About the BC Lions Football Club The BC Lions Football Club is British Columbia's most successful professional sports organization with six Grey Cup titles to their credit: 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011.
