The BC Lions (2-1) host the Edmonton Eskimos (1-2) on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 pm presented by Purolator Tackle Hunger. Local television blackout in effect.
Fans coming to the game on Saturday are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or donation for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Surrey Food Bank as volunteers, including wives, girlfriends and family members of the BC Lions will be stationed at Gates A and H ready to help collect donations. In return for their donation, fans will have an opportunity to take a picture with the Grey Cup. Last year, donations exceeded the 22,000 lb mark.
Game Overview
The Leos come off a hard-fought and soggy 17-3 win over the Green and Gold last week and now face the Esks in the second half of a key back-to-back series. If the Lions manage to come out with a win on Saturday, they will take the all-important season series over their division rivals.
Led on offence by Travis Lulay who notched 82 rushing yards on Saturday, the Lions managed 336 total yards on a slick surface and look forward to some beautiful west coast conditions this week with lots of sunshine in the forecast.
On defence, the Leos notched three sacks and held former teammate Mike Reilly to just 97 passing yards in an emotional road win. They'll need another big effort Saturday night to keep the Eskimos off balance in front of the home faithful.
The club's year-long celebration of 60 amazing seasons continues this Saturday as the Lions induct Canadian Football Hall of Famers Damon Allen and Don Matthews to the BC Lions Wall of Fame during a special halftime ceremony.
All the fun starts at 5:00 pm on the Terry Fox Plaza with the BC Lions Street Party presented by Nissan. In addition to balloon figures, the Lions inflatable, face painting, poster making, interactive games and a performance by the 2013 Felions, fans will also be treated to great music.
