Linseman and Sweeney Added to Boston Alumni Roster

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, entering their 20th season in the American Hockey League, announced today that former Boston Bruins Ken Linseman and Bob Sweeney will participate in the Alumni Game on November 13 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Linseman, of Kingston, Ontario, spent six seasons with the Boston Bruins between 1984 and 1990. Selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the seventh pick in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, Linseman began his professional career in 1978, splitting the season between the Maine Mariners (AHL) and the Flyers. The forward was with the Flyers organization for four seasons before he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) following the 1981-82 season. During the 1982-83 campaign with the Oilers, Linseman had 75 points in 72 games and helped Edmonton to the Stanley Cup Finals. The following season, the Oilers won the Stanley Cup with Linseman adding 14 points in 19 post-season games. He began his career with the Bruins in 1984. During his six years win Boston Linseman was consistently among the top scorers on the team, only trailing the likes of Ray Bourque, Rick Middleton and Cam Neely. In 389 regular season games in a Bruins sweater, Linseman tallied 125 goals and added 247 assists for 372 points. The forward finished his professional career in 1991 after recording 256 goals and 551 assists in 860 NHL games spanning over15 years.

Sweeney, a Boxboro, Massachusetts native, spent six seasons with the Boston Bruins between 1986 and 1991. A four-year product of Boston College, Sweeney made his professional debut in 1986, splitting the season between Boston and the Moncton Golden Flames (AHL). In 1986-87, Sweeney's first full professional season, the Bruins traveled to the Stanley Cup Finals, but were swept by the Edmonton Oilers. Over six seasons wearing the 'spoked-B' Sweeney recorded 81 goals and added 112 assists in 382 regular season games. The forward spent time with the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Calgary Flames and various European teams before hanging up his skates in 2001.
