Worcester Tornadoes News Release
AUGUSTA, NJ--- Roger Lincoln improved to 4-3 on the season tossing seven innings of one run baseball against Worcester this evening. The Tornadoes only were able to scrounge up one run in a 7-1 defeat.
The lone RBI belonged to Chris Colabello, now tied for the team lead with Carlos Sosa at 32. His double in the sixth scored Mike MacMillan who doubled to lead off the inning. At the time it knotted the score at one, but Sussex wouldn't keep it that way for long.
The Skyhawks took the 3-1 with a pair in the seventh; RBIs credited to Mark Pappas and Ryan Crespi both on singles. Then in the bottom of the eighth a two run double from Ray Serrano and a two run home run from Jeremy Hunt put the game completely out of reach for Worcester. Sandy Nin got the last out in the eighth when the lead was still two, thus was credited with the save (6) after a perfect ninth with a six run advantage.
Chris Farley's record evened at 2-2 with a six and two thirds inning and three earned run performance. Dave Pellegrine made his debut tonight for Worcester in relief, and was on the hill when Hunt left the building.
Tomorrow Worcester will try to get back on track towards a winning road trip at 6:35 against Sussex in game two. Rookie Ryan Quinn (0-0) gets his first start in orange and black against Carter Clements (3-2).
