Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NEB. - The Lincoln Saltdogs have announced that they have made a trade with Sussex of the Can-Am League that will bring RHP Ryan Difffurth to the Dogs pitching staff in exchange for RHP Kyle Ruwe.

A fifth-round draft pick of the Texas Rangers in 1998, Dittfurth, 28, was the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2001 after putting together a 9-6 record in 27 games with a 3.48 ERA with Charlotte (A). Shoulder problems forced him to miss all of the 2003 season and limited him to just nine relief appearances the following year. After seven years in the Rangers' system, the 6-6, 200-pound right-hander moved to the Independent ranks and pitched for Windy City (Frontier) and Elmira (Can-Am) in 2005. The McKinney, Texas native sat out another year and then returned to the game with Sussex in 2007 where he put together an impressive 9-5, 3.73 record. In 21 games (20 starts) with the Skyhawks, Dittfurth registered three complete games with 121 strikeouts and just 42 walks in 140 innings.

To complete the trade, Lincoln parted ways with its all-time wins leader in RHP Kyle Ruwe. Known for his versatility and durability, Ruwe joined the Saltdogs in August of 2005 and in two-plus seasons he compiled a 26-12 record as both a reliever and spot starter, winning 10 games in each of the past two seasons. A native of Sunrise, Fla., he made 89 appearances with 22 starts in a Lincoln uniform and struck out 165 batters and walked just 36.

The Saltdogs begin the 2008 season on May 8 at Pensacola with the home opener set for May 16 against the Pelicans. For team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
