Lights FC Wins in Phoenix for the First Time with 1-0 Victory Over Rising FC
May 27, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC closed a two game road trip by visiting Phoenix Rising FC.
Las Vegas out-shot Phoenix 5-4 in the first half, being the team that was the most dangerous side in the first 45 minutes, despite only having 38.6% possession of the ball.
In the second half, Rising was more aggressive and Lights FC was able to keep their goal untouched thanks to a great effort by goalkeeper Leo Diaz who achieved his second clean sheet of the season with three great saves and a couple of assists from the posts.
The Lights' only recorded one shot on target and it delivered the lone goal in the match thanks to a header from Erick "Cubo" Torres off of a fantastic serve from Luke Stauffer, who registered his team leading third assist of the year.
The 1-0 victory for Las Vegas marked the team's first regular season win of 2023 and the first triumph in Phoenix for Lights FC in its seventh visit to the Valley of the Sun. This game was also the fourth consecutive match for the Lights' without a defeat against Rising FC (3 wins and a draw).
NEXT GAME:
Lights FC will return to Downtown Las Vegas to play against Monterey Bay FC on June 10th, it'll be their lone game in the month of June at Cashman Field.
