Rockford Lightning News Release
The Rockford Lightning has announced the signing of an NBA veteran guard with Chicago ties named Jordan who's last NBA team was the Washington Wizards.
But those thinking about Air Jordan would be in error as to which Jordan we're referring to. The Lightning sign 7-year NBA veteran and former CBA All-Star Reggie Jordan to a deal pending league approval.
The 6'4 inch guard played with 5 NBA teams and 3 CBA teams in his career. Jordan is currently the 39th leading rebounder (1,441) in CBA history . Jordan was a first team All-CBA performer in 1995-96, averaging 19.7 points per game for the Sioux Falls Skyforce before being called up to the Atlanta Hawks that March. That year, Jordan led the league in steals and ranked in the top ten in scoring assists and blocked shots. Jordan started his CBA career with Grand Rapids, playing 2 and a half seasons with the Hoops before averaging 18.5 points per game for the CBA champion Yakima Sun Kings in 1994-95. Jordan spent the last year playing in Greece, Italy and France.
The New Mexico State alumnus was a first team All Big West selection in 1991 after leading the Aggies in points (14.6) and rebounds (7.8) that season. Jordan turns 35 on Sunday making him the second oldest player in the CBA (behind Grand Rapids' Olden Polynice).
The Chicago born Jordan fills the roster spot vacated by Joe Crispin. Crispin left the Lightning for Greece after Wednesday night's win over Idaho. Jordan will be in action for tonight's game in Boise.
