
Storm Edges out the Hoops

The Great Lakes Storm came from behind to defeat the Grand Rapids HOOPS 108-106 at the DeltaPlex Arena Friday night. The Storm connected on 11 of 17 fourth quarter shots and erased a seven-point HOOPS lead entering the final frame.
The HOOPS were led in defeat by Jerald Honeycutt, who poured in a game-high 30 points. Olden Polynice also contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds, while three other players scored 12 points for the home team.
Great Lakes (15-15) was led by Jermaine Jackson's 22 points and ten assists, while DeSean Hadley also chipped in 18 points of his own.
Grand Rapids (13-17) was slow out of the gate once again, falling behind by 13 points just five minutes into the game. The HOOPS recovered to take the next two quarters and held a slim advantage entering the final quarter.
The loss dropped Grand Rapids' record to 2-5 against their interstate rivals thus far this season. The HOOPS are now 7-9 at home and 7-12 against the American Conference.
The same two teams will meet once again on Wednesday at the DeltaPlex. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
